1688 SOURCING

1688 Sourcing Agent for Overseas Buyers

Use 1688 as a supplier-discovery channel without treating every listing price, company claim or product photo as a verified quotation.

Why overseas buyers use 1688

1688 is built primarily for China’s domestic wholesale market. It can be useful for discovering product categories, manufacturers, trading companies and domestic price references that may not appear in the same way on export-focused marketplaces.

However, a listing is only the beginning. Prices may depend on quantity, material, color, packaging or promotional conditions. Some sellers are prepared for export communication; others mainly serve domestic buyers.

What we check during 1688 supplier research

  • Whether the product appears relevant to your specification rather than merely visually similar.
  • Published company information and visible operating history available through the platform and public sources.
  • MOQ, price tiers and whether the displayed price is realistic for your requested configuration.
  • Sample availability, sample cost and sample preparation time.
  • Logo, packaging, color, material and size customization.
  • Whether the seller can support the communication and documentation needed for your intended transaction.

Our 1688 sourcing workflow

  1. Translate the buying requirement. Product terms and technical details are organized into Chinese search and RFQ language.
  2. Search beyond one listing. We compare multiple sellers and related product terminology rather than choosing the cheapest thumbnail.
  3. Ask consistent questions. Shortlisted suppliers are compared on the same quantity, specification and destination assumptions.
  4. Separate facts from unanswered claims. The report identifies what was stated, what was not answered and what requires independent verification.
  5. Recommend the next check. Depending on risk and order value, that may be a sample, video call, audit, test or inspection.
Important: Shawe Sourcing does not ask you to send supplier payments through us in the introductory research packages. You keep control of supplier selection and payments.

1688 sourcing does not remove export responsibilities

A domestic-market supplier may not automatically understand labeling, certification, product-safety, customs or intellectual-property requirements in your destination country. Buyers remain responsible for confirming these requirements and arranging appropriate testing, contracts, inspections and logistics.

When 1688 research is a good fit

It is especially useful when you have a clear product reference, want additional supplier options, are comparing domestic and export-market prices, or need Mandarin communication to understand MOQ and customization.
