PRIVATE-LABEL SOURCING

Private-Label Sourcing from China

Private label can mean anything from adding a logo to changing materials, packaging or tooling. Clear scope prevents suppliers from quoting different products under the same name.

Define what private label means for your product

For one buyer, private label means a logo on a stock item. For another, it includes custom color, printed packaging, inserts, barcodes and product changes. These versions can have different MOQs, setup costs, lead times and verification needs.

We help turn the intended product into a supplier-ready question set before comparing candidates. This reduces the chance of treating a low stock-product price as if it covered a fully customized order.

Information we organize in the first sourcing round

  • Base product model, material, dimensions and performance requirements.
  • Logo method, position, colors and setup charges.
  • Stock packaging versus custom printed packaging.
  • MOQ by product configuration and packaging configuration.
  • Sample cost, sample lead time and production lead time.
  • Claimed certificates or test reports that still require verification.
  • Quotation validity, payment terms and major exclusions.
Keep the first comparison fair: suppliers should receive the same core brief. Optional ideas can be separated from non-negotiable requirements so each quote is easier to interpret.

Logo-only, packaging customization and product customization

Logo-only projects can often use an existing product and simpler production process. Custom packaging may introduce a separate packaging supplier or printing MOQ. Product-level changes can affect molds, tooling, materials, testing and production time. We label these layers instead of combining them into one vague “customization” field.

Samples are a decision stage, not proof of future production

A sample helps confirm appearance and basic requirements, but it does not guarantee that production units will match. Buyers should define approval criteria, retain approved references where practical and consider pre-shipment inspection or testing when the risk justifies it.

What you receive

Depending on the agreed package, the deliverable may include public candidate links, documented supplier replies, price and MOQ comparisons, customization notes, information gaps and recommended follow-up questions. It is preliminary sourcing support—not a factory audit, certification verification or guarantee of supplier performance.
